On Friday, August 31, 2024, part of the Mountain Care steering committee had the pleasure of taking part in a hike alongside the YAMBI association. This initiative is part of the Skills-Based Sponsorship program implemented by Cimalpes, enabling supported associations to benefit from the assistance and/or expertise of Cimalpes collaborators.
The YAMBI association works with a dual mission:
- To challenge prejudices and highlight the benefits of collaboration, shared living, and cultural enrichment.
- To support refugees throughout their asylum journey by strengthening their self-esteem, confidence, drive for success, and desire to fully integrate into their new community.
A day filled with sharing and emotion
On this day’s program, Guillemette, Morgan, Numa, and Julie had the pleasure of meeting three beneficiaries of the association: Zain, Aziz, and Ali, coming respectively from Pakistan, Guinea Conakry, and Afghanistan. Throughout the 16 km hike, from La Sambuy to the Pointe de la Chaurionde, they shared their moving stories and their courageous, inspiring journeys. It was a deeply enriching day, and above all, a powerful life lesson.
“Truly a beautiful day that puts so many things into perspective!”
Morgan Vialle
“Conversations that brought us back down to earth.”
